Early in 1996 two friends (later to become partners in Dinkum Products Ltd.) were talking and one said "You know you can't get a decent milkshake in the UK". Being English and having moved to Australia and back to England again he knew that the quality was much better over there.
His friend could not agree more as while in Birmingham City Centre the week earlier, with his young son, he purchased a milkshake for him. The café assistant duly poured warmish milk into a glass, added syrup and stirred with a fork. One sip and the sugary, thin flavoured milk went back and his money was refunded.
Within a week the friends set off on their quest to offer caterers a branded thick milkshake concept that was easy to use and consistent in its outcome. Fresh Shakes was now in its infancy.
Today Dinkum is the leading player in selling milkshake packages into foodservice outlets in the UK and abroad. Attending approximately 20 exhibitions a year we have seen a growing market for more sophisticated drinks and so we recently introduced CAPPUCCINO COOL, an authentic iced coffee easily and quickly made using the same Dinkum mixing system.
In 2010 Dinkum rebranded Fresh Shakes to Shmoo, the change incorporated clear branded disposable cups with domed lids and added a toppings package. “Shmoo”, is a brand name in its own right and now it is served in a clear cup has taken its presentation to the very top level.
